Licensing

Signals Rental Framework is licensed under AGPL-3.0-only, with commercial licences available and contributions accepted under a CLA.

Licence

Signals Rental Framework version 0.5.2 and all later versions are licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 only (AGPL-3.0-only). The full licence text ships in the LICENSE file at the repository root.

Versions released prior to 0.5.2 were released under the MIT License and remain available under that licence. No rights under the MIT License are granted in respect of version 0.5.2 or any later version, including any patch, diff, or modification first published in or after version 0.5.1.

Signals Software Ltd, registered in England and Wales, is the sole copyright holder.

What AGPL-3.0-only means for you

  • Self-hosting for your own business — use, modify, and run the framework freely. The full feature set is in the open-source code; nothing is held back for a paid edition.
  • Distributing or offering it as a network service — if you modify the framework and let users interact with it over a network (for example, hosting it for third parties), the AGPL requires you to make your modified source available to those users under the same licence.
  • Forks and redistributions — must remain AGPL-3.0-only and must respect the trade mark restrictions below.

Commercial licensing

Signals Software Ltd offers commercial licences on alternative terms for companies that cannot, or prefer not to, comply with the AGPL-3.0-only obligations — for example, businesses embedding the framework in proprietary catalogue items or offering hosted services without source-sharing obligations.

Contributions

Contributions to the repository are accepted only under the Signals Software Ltd Contributor License Agreement (CLA.md). The CLA is a licence of your rights, not an assignment — you retain full ownership of your contributions and remain free to use them for any other purpose. By submitting a contribution (pull request, patch, or otherwise) you agree to its terms.

Trade marks

"Signals Rental Framework", "Signals Cloud", and "Signals Platform" are trade marks of Signals Software Ltd; "Signals Rental Framework" is a registered trade mark of Signals Software Ltd in the United Kingdom.

Neither the AGPL-3.0-only licence nor the MIT License applicable to pre-0.5.2 versions grants any right to use these marks. You may not use them — or any confusingly similar mark — in the name of any catalogue item, service, hosted offering, distribution, or fork of this software, or in any manner suggesting sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation with Signals Software Ltd, except for fair descriptive use required by applicable law.
